5 Obstacles Every New Blogger Must Overcome

How many times are we tested, faced with a problem and failed?

Life as a blogger is tough, especially for a newbie. If you don’t know the rule of the game, then it’s practically game over. Know what’s coming, and be prepared. Here, I’ve listed down 5 most common obstacles that every new blogger must overcome in order to survive and escape from the valley of death in his/her blogging career.

1. Show Me The Money

You’re all hyped up. You saw all those top bloggers making money from the internet. They posted their 4 figure earnings every month and you asked yourself, why did I get only $1 (or even less) last month. They must be joking, everything was just a plain lie, Google must’ve paid them to tell those amazing stories. You lost your confidence and motivation. And that was the last time you were seen in blogosphere. Little that you know, that was the biggest mistake that you’ve made as a new blogger.

The problem is you tried to compare your 1 month blog to the established ones. Don’t. Period. For the first 6 months, just concentrate on building your reputation and credibility. Build the circle of trust. Concentrate on increasing traffic. Don’t even look at your adsense earnings coz it won’t give you much motivation to keep you going, generally. If you earn something, that’s a bonus, but don’t think about money if you’ve just started.

2. I’m too lazy

Most of us started blogging as a part time duty, except maybe for a very small portion of us. That being said, you’ve got plenty of things to do apart from blogging. Finishing up your report or assignments, attending meetings, managing projects and many other commitments that you must keep at the top of your priority list. Blogging may come second or last. After a hard day’s work, come night time, you’ve already tired and don’t have enough motivation and physical strength to even switch on your laptop or PC. Another day goes by without publishing anything. It takes you only one moment to develop the habit of procrastination until one day, you just call it quit.

3. They are way better than me. I don’t belong here.

You look at your competitors in your niche and admire their contents. You then go back to your blog and think, I’m nowhere near them. They are just super uber. So you keep on demoralizing yourself by having this habit of disbelieving in your own potential. Sure enough, looking at those A-list bloggers will make you think over and over again whether you should go out and blog as well, in the same niche. But you’ve got to be creative and believe in yourself. You’ve got to have some qualities that they don’t have, or something unique. Be creative and know yourself really well. Everybody should have something to offer that is different from any other persons.

4. Can this really work?

Blogging is in effect the same as setting up your own business. Except this time, it’s online. Although many would say that the start up cost is relatively low, the basic rules and principals apply. You need A LOT of motivation, never give up attitude, dare to fail, slow start, you might not get the profit you want for the first few months etc. Same thing same story. So have a correct mindset and attitude from the start. Nobody said that this journey is gonna be an easy one. If they did, then they most probably lied. But you CAN succeed and make a living through blogging. A lot of people have done it, so can you. Just keep on doing what you’re doing right now, and do it at your very best

5. I’m out of ideas

Common problem that haunts every blogger even the A-list ones. Try and expand your reading experience. Read some magazines, news and visit other blogs to get fresh ideas. Share your own perspective concerning different issues. Write about the new money making technique that you tried, make a list of blogs that inspired you yesterday, write a How To.. tutorial that can be divided into 3 to 4 posts. That’ll keep you busy for the next few days. Try and be creative. Sometimes you need to chill out a little bit, just to relax that brain muscles of yours. Or publish some stupid jokes that somebody forwarded it to you this morning, just to keep your readers busy and entertained. As long as they’re happy, they don’t mind, don’t worry :).
