Choose Your Monetization Method to Make Money Online
If you’re starting a new blog, and you’re planning to make money from it, it’s best for you to carefully choose the monetization method that you’re going to implement on the blog. This has several advantages such as:
1. Save you a lot of time changing and testing what’s the best way to earn from your blog
If you don’t have a clue what method to use, and just try everything as you go on writing blog posts, other bloggers might have already earned something from their blog. Time is money. Without proper planning, in just one month, you could leave out tens or hundreds of dollars on missed opportunities.
2. Save you from whining all the time when the earning is not as you expected
If you’re wondering why you’re not earning as much as others, maybe your monetization strategy doesn’t suit you. And that’s because you didn’t properly plan what you’re gonna do with your blog. Know your strengths and weaknesses, and choose a strategy that optimizes your strength to gain maximum profit.
3. You can concentrate your time and effort on that method to get the maximum profit possible
Remember the cliche ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’? If you can afford to do everything, then go ahead. But generally, concentrating on one method that you know you’re good at gives better result than trying to do everything at once. As time goes by and you learn your way through blogging, you can probably diversify your method. But for a start, I’d advise to concentrate on one particular method and work your way from there.
4. Be among the experts on that monetization method
Through experience and constant learning, you can become the expert or guru on that method. Look at people like Joel Comm and Rosalind Gardner. People listen to them whenever they talk about adsense and affiliate marketing respectively. Why? Because they know what they’re talking about. They are the experts. And you can be like them too if you know your monetization strategy really well.
There are several ways to make money from your blog, as Maki from DoshDosh listed in his site. I’m currently setting up a blog for the ‘paid to blog’ route as I like writing reviews and I don’t like to put so many paid reviews in this blog. I’m saving up this blog just to share my experience in making money online and offline as well as giving valuable information to my readers. If you want to do paid blogging as well and have extra cash, I don’t recommend using blogspot since there are many advertisers that specifically exclude blogspot.com from their list of acceptable domain
Another monetization method that I’m going to use on my other projects is of course the Adsense route. For that I need to consider a very specific niche that have high demand and low supply to ensure reasonable return from my blogs or websites. At the moment, I’m going to concentrate my efforts on these monetization strategies but of course, I’m going to try other methods as well if these strategies go well as planned.
As for this blog, I’m trying to go for the ‘flagship’ route. I know it’s going to take a long time to achieve that, looking at other big players already in the field. But hey, if you’re gonna blog, what’s the purpose of making yourself the same as others. Aim high and go for the big one!
